Field trend status
▲Improving: the field is drying out (getting firmer / less wet).
–Holding steady: little net change either way.
▼Deteriorating: the field is wetting up.
▼Rapidly deteriorating / Saturating: wetting up quickly, or already very wet.
▲Extreme drying: drying very fast; the surface may harden.
Synthetic fields do not "improve", so they only show Steady, Deteriorating or Saturating.
The triangle next to each dot repeats the direction as a shape, not just a colour - useful if colour is hard to distinguish.
Per-period status (morning / afternoon / evening)
▲Drying / Slight drying: losing water over that period.
–Steady: roughly no change.
▼Wetting: gaining water.
▼Heavy wetting: gaining water quickly.
Parameters
Rainfall: forecast precipitation total (shown as a range).
Temp: air temperature range for the period.
Humidity: average relative humidity.
Evapotranspiration: water lost from the turf to the air; the main thing that dries a field, and it happens mostly in daylight.
Cloud cover: average cloudiness over the period.
UV index: peak ultraviolet level.
Wind (avg / gust): average wind speed and the strongest gust.
Field settings
Surface: natural turf or synthetic.
Drainage: how quickly the ground sheds water (free, average or poor). Poor-draining fields wet up faster and dry slower.
Grass type: warm-season or cool-season; affects how fast the turf dries.
Warnings
FrostTemperatures low enough for frost; the surface may be hard or frozen.
HeatHot conditions (from 34°C, or extreme from 40°C).
ThunderstormsConditions that can support thunderstorms (possible, or severe possible).
Heavy rainIntense rainfall (about 10mm in an hour, or 25mm in a day).
Strong windStrong gusts (around 60km/h or more).
7 day outlook
The coloured squares show each day's direction, and the trend line summarises where the week is heading. A "drying window" is a run of drying days; a "wetting build-up" is a run of wetting days.
Outfield shows the direction and rate of change of field conditions from the weather, not the actual ground moisture, and it does not decide whether a field is open or closed. That call stays with the ground manager.
